The second Eastern North Carolina Pottery Festival will be held on 14 November in Pollocksville, North Carolina. Twenty-plus potters will gather on the grounds of Daniels Art Glass Gallery, to show and sell their original pottery, as well as to demonstrate throwing techniques and various types of firing. The purpose of this festival is to provide a forum for our own enormously talented potters in Eastern North Carolina to display their pottery.
There is no need to travel great distances when you have potters such as Candice Young, Jim Bisbee, Michaele Watson, Brent Wheelwright, Scott Haynes, Rich Daniels, Elizabeth Pridy, Maureen Davis, Pamela Holliday, Ben Watford, Carole McCracken, Kathy Whitley, Shelly and Chris Mathias, to name only a few that will be attending. This year, Candace Young of Bay River Pottery, will demonstrate a Raku firing technique and also have small pots available for festival attendees to add their own pets hair or feathers, leaving an intriguing carbon impression on the pot. A portion of the proceeds from these pots will benefit the Capital Humane Society and PAWS.
Children will also have an opportunity to get their hands dirty and throw a pot on the potters wheel. Brent Wheelwright and Scott Haynes from Morehead City, will be demonstrating their refined skills for throwing large vessels. The festival is from 9 4 PM and is sure to be a great time for everyone who loves pottery.
