![]() Columbia, NC—Pocosin Arts Folk School will host a woodcarving workshop in the Studio on Saturday, June 20th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Rick Smith, of Columbia, member of the Pocosin Arts Carving Club will be teaching participants basic carving skills. Rick’s wildlife carvings have often been on display and for sale in the Pocosin Arts Gallery. Workshop participants will begin by carving a Christmas ornament from a piece of tulip poplar, a native hardwood locally grown and sustainably harvested. The tuition of $25.00 includes a carving knife (to keep!) and materials needed to complete an ornament. In addition each person will receive instructions & material to carve another style ornament on their own time. Acrylic paint will be provided to paint the finished carvings. Some brushes will be available but students are encouraged to bring their own if they have them. The class size will be limited to 12 students.
