please take time to read this page -

It is the only thing I ask..

2007 - An artist grant invited me to submit sculpture on the basis of "humanitarian significance" - I immediately Googled " Humanitarian".. up popped an image of a girl in Darfur running from an attacker..  I began to pray, little did I know where this would lead... more

 Healing through ART in DARFUR

Picture
Founder of IBXarts, Tom Kilian, has begun a new work to aid Darfur in hope and healing .. While Darfur remains fragmented, with traces of hostility and genocide, the artists of the Inner Banks have allowed compassion to shine in this dark region.. Tom writes:
"One of my task while working with the 460 orphans within the 40 acre fenced compound of the orphanage is art therapy. Life for these orphans has been difficult as they have seen the worst of what humanity can dish out. Many have not held a crayon. When providing the means of creativity they begin to work through some of their life experiences. pictures often depict
attempts to climb trees from Hyena attacks ( over 250 orphans have died in the village due to such attacks a few years back) each picture is personal, .. including the attacks from militias upon their unarmed tribe. As time progressed I saw images of freedom and protection and play come about with a instinctive artistic gesture that is normally attributed to “african art” - Smiles replace hollow stares as pictures change from guns and wild animals to footballs and frisbees. The artists of the Inner Banks are doing more then creating an artistic economy, together we are creating artistic healing in the world - Thank you for your continued support in this effort- Love, Tom Kilian
